Assignment: Use a DSLR, shoot 10 black and white images of things you want to sale on eBay.  

Apply depth of field (DoF).

Venice Beach - Photo Workshop

When it comes to photography, I can take a million classes and never

get tired of it. There is always something new to learn or a different

perspective to enlighten me. Talking to great photographers is a thrill.

When I got the chance to spend a day talking with Hans Gutknecht
in Venice Beach and shoot alongside him with a few other eager learners,
I jumped on the opportunity. Here are a few of my favorite shots from the day.

I had such a great day seeing all the eclectic beauty that is Venice Beach.
It is never boring and you can almost always find something interesting
and quirky but beautiful too. Thank you, Hans, for such a great day!

Awaiting Leksey

Pregnancy is amazing to me. Everything about it is fascinating and beautiful.

I am one of those people who wants to touch every pregnant woman's

belly... I don't ever act on it though. That would be creepy. (Right?)

I had never done a maternity shoot before and hadn't had the opportunity

'til now and the perfect model fell into my lap. My cousin, Chou, has a 

that perfect round basketball belly that I always wanted when I was pregnant.

She has a quiet beauty and elegance about her. If anyone has that pregnancy glow, it's her.

She and her husband Jeff, along with their two gorgeous girls, are expecting

a new little baby girl this Fall and they couldn't be more excited to meet her.

We did a few shots in their home with the girls.

They are such sweet, curious little people. 

Photographing their joy made me smile in parts of my soul I didn't even know I had.

It was truly a pleasure capturing this magical moment in this family's life.

I am looking forward to meeting little Leksey. 

In Love

Nia's smile when she talks about Karl is almost blinding.

Karl's smile when he looks at Nia almost makes me blush.

It's so nice to see my sister so happy and in love.

Doing this shoot was a lot of fun and these two lovebirds were up for just about anything.

I really enjoyed getting to spend time with them and getting a glimpse into their relationship.

It really is a beautiful thing to witness true love.
